Don't Make it a Habit to Judge and Condemn Others

Luke 6: 37

Judge not, and ye shall not be j.u.d.g.e.d: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive and ye shall be forgiven.

Judge - (krino - pronounced kree-no)

to distinguish, decide, try, condemn, punish, avenge, decree, call in question, sentence to, think

condemn - (katadikazo - pronounced kat-ad-ik-ad-zo)

to adjudge against, pronounce guilty

forgive - (apoluo - pronounced ap-ol-oo-o)

free fully, relieve, release, dismiss, let die, pardon, set at liberty

If you notice above, the word think is included as a way you can try the actions of others. You can pronounce them guilty, or condemn them in your mind as well as by things you might say aloud.

The words try, condemn, punish, and avenge are things that you might say or do in the presence of others. When you think of revenge, it is usually doing a bad physical thing to avenge the bad thing someone else has already done to you.

The words "call in question" and "think", though, start out in your mind first. You dwell upon what they have done and decide to condemn, or pronounce them guilty, for it.

God says that if you make the choice not to do these two things, they won't happen to you in return. In other words, stay away from the things that you don't want to have to deal with in the future.

God wants you to dwell on forgiveness instead of condemnation. He wants to bless your life, and He won't be able to do it if you are caught up in revenge and things of the flesh.

Real forgiveness is when you give a full pardon or release to someone for what they have done to you. In that way you set God free to work on the problem on your behalf and theirs. As long as you hold on, you are just hurting your relationship with Him and hurting your own self.

It has now been medically proven that unforgiveness, bitterness, and hatred can cause many health problems that can get worse over time.

Make the choice that you will not judge others. Learn to forgive quickly so that God will do the same for you.
