Christians should always Strive to Walk in the Light!

Ephesians 5: 8-14

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye Light in the Lord. Walk as children of L: (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth,) proving (finding out) what is acceptable to the Lord.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the L: for whatsoever doth make manifest is L. Wherefore He saith, "Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee L."

Paul tells the Ephesians that they have been walking in darkness, but that is not so any more. They are now Christians. He wants them to know that they can tell their life is illuminated by the fruit they bear. Then they could know that God was pleased with them.

He also tells them to have nothing to do with anything unfruitful, but to admonish or rebuke it. As they did this, their hearts would become clean and pure so that God could use them in whatever way He chose. They could get to the point that their fruit would be immense and they could be used greatly.

We cannot see spiritual things with fleshly eyes, so Christ must be the organ that is used to illuminate the areas of our life that need "a good scrubbing." We must always make the choice to get rid of everything that is unfruitful, and tell God that He will just have to show us what needs to be changed.

As you can see from the above scriptures, Paul told them what they needed to do, but it was up to them to carry out his instructions. He couldn't do it for them and he certainly couldn't make them do it for themselves.

reproved (elegcho - pronounced el-eng-kho)

to admonish, convict, convince, tell a fault, rebuke

manifest (phaneroo - pronounced fan-er-ó-o)

to render apparent, appear, declare, show

light (phos - pronounced foce)

This is a luminous emanation, probably of force, from certain bodies, which enables the eye to discern form and color. It requires an organ adapted for its reception. Where that organ is absent or impaired, it is useless.

It is your choice as to what you will do with the truths given in these verses. God wants your life to be squeaky clean before Him so that you can produce much fruit for His Kingdom.
