Always Treat Others the Way You Would Like to be Treated!

Decide how you want to be treated and treat others that way.

Luke 6: 31

And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.



would - (thelo - pronounced thel-o)

to determine, intend, choose or prefer, be inclined, desire

Present Indicative Active: the action is accomplished by the subject - indicative mood makes an assertion of a fact - distinction can be made about the time when an action occurs - the action is in the NOW and ongoing

do - (poleo - pronounced poh-eh-o)

to make or do, but has a very wide application of meaningsexamples: abide, agree, execute, have purged, fulfil, perform, ordain, provide

Present Subjunctive Active: the action is accomplished by the subject - represents NOW action - makes an assertion about which there is some doubt, uncertainty or indefiniteness - closely related to the future tense where doubt arises because the action has not occurred yet.

do

This is the same meaning as above, but it is in the Present Imperative Active tense: the action is accomplished by the subject - the imperative mood gives a command - it represents action in the NOW.

likewise - (homoios - pronounced hom-oy-oce)

similar in appearance or character, like manner, similarly, likewise so

Adverb: qualifies the meaning of a verb by indicating time, place or manner in which its action is accomplished.



This verse does not necessarily mean that people will always treat you the way you treat them, but you should decide how you want to be treated and make the choice to treat everyone that way. You will find that most people will respond back in the same way you respond to them.

Even if they don't, you have decided to always carry out the action you chose previously; then you have nothing to be sorry for because your life is filled with choices of integrity.

The second "do" in this verse gives a command. You have decided how you want to be treated, and God gives you a command to treat others in that way because He always has your best interest at heart. He wants you to get to the place where no person can rob you of your joy and peace in Him.

God knows that your dealings with people won't always go smoothly, but in the end you are both responsible for your own actions. He wants you to do the right thing no matter what someone else decides to do.
