What kind of seeds are you planting for your future?

Do not judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.

Robert Louis Stevenson

II Corinthians 9: 6

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.

He which soweth - (speiro - pronounced spi-ro)

to scatter, to draw out through the idea of extending

Present Active Participle - an action or process that took place in the past, but the results have continued to the present - the subject acts upon itself

sparingly - (pheidomenos - pronounced fi-dom-en-oce)

stingily

reap - (therizo - pronounced ther-id-zo)

in the sense of the crop - to harvest

Future Active - the emphasis is on the fact that the action will take place in the future, not always what kind of action is represented.

bountifully - eulogia - pronounced yoo-log-ee-ah)

to bless, prosper, benefit or largess, fair speech, commendation, to speak well of

In the verses before and after, Paul is talking to the Corinthians about being a cheerful giver to help the other Christians in their time of need. He plainly tells them that what they receive in the future will depend on what they sow in the present.

It was totally their choice as to how they would respond to his call to action because that is how God works. He wants the best for you, but you can always choose not to receive it. You can sow stingily and reap the same.

Planting spiritual seeds is much like a farmer who plants his crop in the spring, then maintains it through the summer, and harvests in the fall. There has to be a time for developing strong roots so that it can produce an abundant crop, and the farmer must have the patience to wait.

Sowing and Reaping is a Law that was established by God and you can always depend on the fact that it will work perfectly whether you sow sparingly or bountifully. Why not get out of your comfort zone and stand on the Word of God to see the magnificent ways He will work in your life.
