Sowing and Reaping is an important Law of God!
An important law that was initiated by God is sowing and reaping. The following verses explain this in great detail, and are taken directly from the Greek rendering.
Galatians 6: 7
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
deceived (planao - pronounced plan-ah-o)
to cause to roam from safety, truth or virtue; err, seduce, be out of the way
Present Imperative Active - active voice means action is accomplished by the subject - is used to give a command - is living action, or in the now.
God is not mocked (mukterizo - pronounced mook-tay-rid-zo)
to make mouths at, ridicule
Present Indicative Passive - makes an assertion of a fact - the subject receives the action of the verb - it is living action, or in the now.
soweth (speiro - pronounced spi-ro)
through the idea of extending, to scatter, receive seed
Present Subjunctive Active - action is accomplished by the subject - is living action or in the now - makes an assertion about which there is some doubt.
that
that particular thing or like thing
reap (therizo - pronounced ther-id-zo)
in the sense of the crop - to harvest
Future Active - the emphasis is on the fact that the action will take place in the future, not always what kind of action is represented.
God specifically says you will harvest the seeds that you have scattered at some point in the future. He tells you point blank that there will be consequences for each action, whether good or bad.
It might be awhile before you see the consequences, but they will surely come. If you have done good things, you can have much hope that good things are on the way.
Galatians 6: 8
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
He that soweth to
into (indicating the point reached or entered of place, time, purpose, or result)
flesh (sarx)
the body as opposed to the soul or spirit, symbol of what is external, or human nature with its frailties and passions, carnal
reap corruption (phthora - pronounced fthor-ah)
decay or ruin (spontaneous or inflicted) - perish
spirit (pneuma - pronounced pnyoo-mah)
current of air, implies vital principle - superhuman
When you sow to the Spirit, it is a superhuman thing that God will take and multiply for good in your life. Catering to the flesh might seem to be the best thing to do at the moment, but in the long run it will come back to bite you.
Galatians 6: 9
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
weary (ekkakeo - pronounced ek-kak-eh-o)
to be bad or weak, to fail, be faint
Present Subjunctive Active - the action is accomplished by the subject - it is living action in the now - it makes an assertion about something of which there is some doubt or uncertainty.
well doing
to do beautiful, good, valuable, or virtuous things
due season
pertains to one's own self - implies private or separate
a specific occasion, a set or proper time - not just time in general
faint not
do not relax
Present Passive Middle Participle - the subject acts in some way upon or concerning himself - living action in the now.
According to the Bible, which is the True Word of God, you can fully believe that if you continue to do good things, there will come a point in time where you will start to receive good things back. This is continuous and in the now, so whatever you do right now will have consequences for good or bad in the future.
If you are constantly sowing to the flesh now, ask God to help you stop, and start to watch what you say and do closely. It might take a little while for you to start seeing the good things, but you can rest assured that God never lies. He will always be faithful to fulfill His Word. Just continue to do good things, and you will be amazed at how He will change your life.
Be sure to take Him fully at His Word and see how your life will be radically changed for the better.
