Is The Lord Really Your Strength And Fortress?

Psalm 27: 1

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

light (owr - pronounced ore)

illumination; luminary in every sense, including lightning, happiness, bright, clear

salvation (yesha - pronounced yeh-shah)

liberty, deliverance, prosperity, safety; from the root word yasha, meaning to be safe, open, wide, free, avenge, defend, deliver

fear (yare - pronounced yaw-ray)

morally to revere, causatively to frighten, make afraid, put in fear

s.t.r.e.n.g.t.h (mauz - pronounced maw-ooz)

a fortified place; figuratively a defense - force; fortress, rock, stronghold

comes from the root word azaz (aw-zaz) meaning to be stout, literally or figuratively; prevail, be strong

afraid (pachad pronounced paw-khad)

to be startled by a sudden alarm; to fear in general; stand in awe; make to shake

It is awesome to know that we as Christians have a fortified place, or fortress, in the Lord. He truly wants to make us strong and be able to live in victory over the enemy Satan.

We have a defense that is steady and sure, but we must have the faith to claim the victory that God has already given to us.

This verse is extremely powerful. Please take the time to study the Hebrew meanings of each of the words listed above. Your life truly can be changed when you believe and apply the full meaning of this verse as a whole.
