You have control over every thought that pops into your head
You always have a choice as to what you will do with each thought.
You have the power to bring anything that pops into your head under control that is not in line with God or the Bible. Most Christians do not believe they have a choice in this, but think they have to accept whatever comes and try to deal with it the best way possible. You can't stop things from popping into your head, but you can make the choice to accept or reject them. You will be surprised the first time you decide to do that and find out that it really works. It takes a determination to realize that you don't have to live according to the flesh any more. God has won the victory over Satan and that includes the things that you think. You cannot live in the flesh everyday, though, and be a victorious Christian. I will give you a word picture for greater clarity. Many people have a problem with fear or anxiety. I know from my own experience that one minute you can be perfectly fine, and the next a thought can pop into your head or something can happen that can put you in a state of total fear. You can't stop any of the above from happening; it's what you do afterwards that determines what your life will be like for the next moments, days, or weeks. Sometimes it could be fear over something that might happen in the future, or it has already happened. You can't control things that happen, but you can control how you respond to them. When you make the choice to not let fear take over, you have won a huge battle. God will then reach down, meet you where you are, and give you strength to fight victoriously.
II Corinthians 10: 5 "...bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." captive (Aichmalotizo - pronounced aheekh-mal-o-tid-zo) to be captured, to be a prisoner, to subjugate, to bring under control, to make captive thought (noema - pronounced no-ay-mah) a purpose, device of the mind obedience (hupakoe - pronounced hoop-ak-o-ay) attentive hearkening, compliance, submission, to hear under as a subordinate, to heed or conform to a command or authority In the New Testament this suggests an actual and outward result of the inward persuasion and faith that goes with it.
Below are 10 ways to live in obedience to Christ so that you can win battles: 1. Fall in love with The Word Make a committment to read your Bible every day and ask the Holy Spirit to make the Word come alive in your heart. 2. Spend time in genuine prayer Don't just say a quick generic prayer, or spend the whole time asking God for things. Seek His face and ask Him to show you who He really is. 3. Learn to walk by faith God is pleased with the person who will be obedient to Him and do whatever He asks without doubting. He wants you to know that you can trust Him totally with your life because He always wants the best for you. 4. Live everyday knowing that Nothing is Impossible with God 5. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in all truth He is just waiting to lead you in every area of your life. Trust him and see the great things He will accomplish through you. 6. Remember that love and compassion can conquer a lot of problems 7. Don't beat yourself up when you fail Jesus is the only person who lived on the earth that has ever been perfect. We all fail and disappoint, but we need to ask quickly for forgiveness, then forgive ourselves, and start going forward again. 8. Don't let Satan tell you that God can't use you now that you have made a mistake God is in the business of forgiveness, and the moment you asked He forgave and forgot the whole thing. If you need to, remind Satan of that and tell Him to leave you alone in the Name of Jesus. 9. What you Focus on is what Develops Make sure that you are focusing on things that really mean something for eternity. 10. Let the Fruit of the Spirit be evident in your life Make sure that you forgive easily and don't let anything in the flesh come between you and God. It's just not worth it to quench the wonderful relationship you have with God, even for a short time.
God truly wants to do something mighty in the life of every Christian. It is up to you, though, to decide how much of your life you will actually give Him. Give Him everything and see what He will do!
